Tulisan ini mengupas pendekatan bapa gereja Agustinus dalam mengkhotbahkan doktrin Trinitas, yang terangkum dalam prinsip fides quaerens intellectum (iman mencari pengertian), dimana iman harus diutamakan dan iman mendahului pengertian. Setelah itu baru memberdayakan akal budi manusia secara benar dan tepat untuk memperjelas akan apa yang telah diterima melalui iman. Penerapan prinsip ini dalam khotbah berarti seorang pengkhotbah perlu menekankan aspek iman doktrin ini baru setelah itu menjelaskan kandungan doktrin tersebut.
