Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The author states that this manuscript has never been published or is not being considered for publication in other journals, and during the assessment process will not be withdrawn and sent to other journals.
  • The author submitting the manuscript with an understanding that if the manuscript accepted to be published, he/she retains copyright but also agrees to grant Veritas: Jurnal Teologi dan Pelayanan the right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under an Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) that allows others to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) with appropriate credit to the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  • The author states that the manuscript submitted is original, free from fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplication and copyright infringement of data or content.
  • The author has ensured a blind review, which is maintaining the confidentiality of personal identity in the text and in the document properties.
  • The author is willing to revise the manuscript that has been assessed and not revoke it arbitrarily without informing the editor, especially if the manuscript is in the process of being assessed.
  • The author does not object if the text is edited by the editor without changing the substance or main ideas of the writing.
  • The manuscript has used the citation style and reference list in accordance with Turabian 8th edition.

General Author Guidelines

  • Authors should register first as Author role. All manuscripts are submitted online using Online Submission Service. See the Online Submission guidelines or download here.
  • Besides the manuscript, the author must also include the Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) Form that has been filled and signed digitally. The CTA form can be downloaded here.
  • Authors can submit manuscripts in the form of articles or book reviews. The minimum length of an article is 5,000 words and a book review of at least 500 words. For book reviews, it is necessary to include the book cover picture.
  • The author's view does not represent the view of Sekolah Tinggi Teologi SAAT.

Manuscript Templates

  • The writing structure consists of two types. First, for the manuscripts that discuss the results of field research have a writing framework consisting of an introduction, literature review, methodology, results, analysis and discussions, conclusion, and bibliography (template can be downloaded here). Second, for the manuscripts that discuss critical and conceptual studies that are not the results of field research have a writing framework consisting of an introduction, discussion, conclusion, and bibliography (template can be downloaded here).
  • Manuscripts are written in Indonesian or English using standard academic languages. 
  • The manuscript is typed in Microsoft Word using A4 paper size with 25 mm top margin, 25 mm bottom margin, 20 mm left margin and 20 mm right margin. The manuscript is typed using Times New Roman font size of 12 pt (except for the title 16 pt) and space between lines 1.15.
  • Under the title, respectively the author's name (without title), affiliation (institution) and e-mail address.
  • Abstract and keywords are typed in Indonesian and English with lengths between 100 to 250 words. For manuscripts in English, it is unnecessary to include abstracts in Indonesian.
  • Citation of references is carried out using footnotes and a list of references following the 8th edition of Turabian format (citation format can be downloaded here). A list of references is written at the end of the manuscript and includes only those cited in the manuscript. For references, it is expected to use tools such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Reviewing Process

  • There are three steps of reviewing process. First, the manuscript will be reviewed by the editor. If the manuscript meets the focus and scope of the Veritas journal, showing novelty, originality and free of plagiarism then it is processed for the next stage. Second, the manuscript will be sent to assigned peer-reviewers to assess the quality of the contents and writing styles. The manuscript assessment process will be conducted by two reviewers anonymously (double-blind peer review). Third, the editor considers the feedback provided by the reviewers and arrives at a decision.
  • There are five possible editorial decisions: accepted, accepted with revisions, resubmit for review, resubmit elsewhere, and rejected. The peer reviewers partner of Veritas Journal are scholars who have expertise in the fields of biblical studies, systematic theology, and practical ministry studies.
  • Acceptance of a manuscript depends on the suitability of the manuscript with the focus and scope of this journal, the assessment by editors, the recommendation of peer reviewers, similarity check using Turnitin with a maximum tolerance value 15%, and corrections by the author (according to the evaluation notes from reviewers and editors).

Revision of Manuscript 

  • Revision of the manuscript should be returned to the editor as soon as possible. The revised manuscript should be uploaded to the online submission interface by clicking "Upload File” from Revisions section of Review task window. 
  • Revision of the manuscript should include highlighted revised sentences. Revised manuscript returned later than three months will be considered as a new submission and will be reviewed again by other peer-reviewers.
