Kecenderungan Perkembangan Pemikiran Teologi Abad 21: Sebuah Kajian Retrospektif dan Prospektif

Di dalam artikel ini pembaca akan melihat berbagai kecenderungan dalam alam pemikiran dunia teologi pada tahun-tahun mendatang. Apa yang saya paparkan sebagian besar didasarkan apa yang pernah terjadi dalam dunia teologi di tahun-tahun yang lampau dan merupakan prakiraan tentatif yang perlu diuji apakah tepat demikian. Hal ini berarti penulis tidak sedang membuat sebuah nubuat atau sebaliknya menciptakan dugaan yang mengada-ada. Istilah “Di Abad 21” pada judul artikel ini juga penulis rasakan terlalu bernada hiperbolis, karena siapa yang dapat memastikan apa yang terjadi 10, 20 atau 50 tahun mendatang berhubung perubahan sekarang selalu terjadi dengan begitu cepat. Sebab itu lebih tepat bila pembaca mengartikan “Di Abad 21” sebagai masa permulaan dunia memasuki suatu rentang yang baru sekali, yaitu abad 21, dan tidak mengartikannya sebagai masa sampai 100 tahun.
